Low-cost, high performance batteries are in great demand with new products like the electric car expanding the market. Batteries have the potential to not only play a major role in consumer electronics but also in renewable energy, and research in this field is truly exciting.
This introductory course provides an overview of the fundamental principles of batteries, with an emphasis on thermodynamics and electrochemistry, particularly in lithium ion batteries. Learn about different types of batteries includinglead acid, nickel metal hydride, metal air, sodium sulfur, and redox flow as well as advances in battery technology.
