Biodesign Innovation: Needs Finding and Concept Creation
2
Milroy Craig
This course is the first component of a two course series on the medical device innovation process focused on early stage innovation. Students will learn the process of validating unmet clinical needs through detailed analysis of the clinical disease state, market analysis, and healthcare dynamics. Class members will be introduced to a process of filtering these needs and then brainstorming initial solutions in the context of medical technology innovation.
Lectures are delivered by world-class faculty and successful medical device entrepreneurs who describe their "real-world" experiences with founding healthcare companies. There are a number of case-studies presented that show how successful medtech companies started, what they did right and what they might have done better. The course seeks to teach participants the innovation process via a series of faculty and guest expert lectures.
